My Explanation

The Grid is the grid and the dots represent the centre of the object

This has the original code of grid repetition built into it but as the pattern goes on, the pattern position on the grid becomes more random and we get this effect of erosion and slowly breaking away from the norm. It slowly becomes less rigid and more organic. I might also play around with transparency and make it so as the lines go on, the line becomes less transparent.
